BP Gas' propane bottles are available from authorised distributors and stockists of BP Gas products and selected BP Retail forecourts.

How to buy

When you buy your first BP gas bottle, the price you pay includes a charge for the use of the bottle, as well as for the gas itself. When your BP Gas Light bottle is empty, return it to your selected stockist to exchange it for a full bottle. This time, you'll pay only for the gas.

If you decide you no longer need a BP Gas bottle, you may return it to any BP Gas bottle stockist and receive a partial refund in accordance with the BP Gas Bottle Refill Agreement. Please ensure you keep this agreement safe after it is provided when you make your first purchase.

Heat and hot water at work
Propane provides heating and hot water on a small or large scale, indoor or outdoor. It's frequently used in offices, industrial units and marquee events. It can also be used to power a wide range of space heaters, including fixed, mobile and overhead radiant models, blown air and convector heaters.

Forklift trucks
Propane combines continuous power with lower emissions. In contrast to diesel and electric-powered FLTs, it's suitable for use both inside and outside the warehouse, making it the perfect fuel to give your business a lift.

Agricultural and horticultural
Propane is the ideal fuel for the farm. Independent, mobile and versatile, it can be used for jobs such as poultry and pig rearing, and crop drying. Greenhouse cultivation can also be aided by using propane for heating, as by-products like CO2 and water help plant development.

Ovens, furnaces and kilns
Propane provides a constant fuel for baking and stoving ovens, annealing and heat treatment furnaces, kilns and all types of process heating. Its purity provides guarantees for glass blowers, while its even controllability is ideal for kiln pottery glazing. Oxy-propane mixtures are also widely used in metal working industries.

Incorrect storage, handling and usage of gas should be avoided at all times - please follow the following safety guidelines when using BP Gas cylinders:

• Gas bottles are highly flammable and should be kept away from sources of ignition and naked flames
• Bottles should be placed in an upright position to ensure vapour (rather than liquid) is used
• Keep your bottle outdoors at all times, on firm, level ground and in a well ventilated position
• Do not keep your gas bottle in a cellar, basement or sunken area
• Bottles must be accessible, should not cause obstructions and must be protected from damage or interference by persons, animals or vehicles
• Changeover devices and regulators should ideally be located near to the bottles and the flexible connections kept as close as possible
• Bottles should not be positioned near to windows, doors, airbricks, flues, ducts, drains, gullies or openings to cellars
• Bottles should also not be located within near to any corrosive, toxic or oxidising materials
• The area around bottles should be kept clear of litter, long grass and other flammable materials

If you smell gas please call BP Gas' emergency number (0845 607 6118). Ensure the area is thoroughly ventilated and extinguish all sources of ignition.

Please report any other fault with your bottle to your point of purchase.
