How much LPG does my business need?
-
Your LPG consumption will depend on the number and type of
applications you have in your business. Your dedicated BP Gas
Account Manager will be happy to discuss your usage and advise you
on your projected LPG requirements.
-
What tank sizes are available?
-
Bulk tank LPG comes in a range of sizes from half a tonne
to two tonnes. When you join BP Gas we will ensure you have a tank
size which fits your LPG needs.
-
How does BP Gas know when I need more LPG?
-
Telemetry customers' tanks are fitted with a gauge and
a sensor which reads the tank contents. The sensor is connected to
a telemetry unit which sends the information, via GSM text message,
to BP Gas. The data enables us to see whether your usage has
altered and whether your order needs to be changed. If it does, a
new delivery date will be set based on the new information,
ensuring you always have a supply.
-
How does the delivery process work?
-
BP Gas provides a flexible service designed to meet the needs of
its business customers. Bulk tank LPG deliveries can be made to
your business whether you're on the premises or not. Our delivery
driver will have a key to the hood on your vessel and a ticket will
be left to show how many litres have been delivered. The only thing
you need to do is ensure the driver has access to the tank.
-
When should I re-order?
-
Your LPG tank is equipped with a contents gauge. We recommend
you contact BP Gas' Customer Services team on 0845 300 0038 or
bpgas@uk.bp.com when your
vessel reaches 30%, depending on your contract type.
-
What should I do if I run out of gas?
-
If you run out of gas:
- Turn off the emergency stop valve on the side of the
building
- Make sure all appliances are turned off
- After delivery, the Under Pressure Shut Off valve (where
fitted) should be reset
- Follow your appliance re-lighting procedures
-
How much maintenance will I need to carry out?
-
Very little. As part of our commitment and service agreement, we
manage vessel maintenance on behalf of all of our bulk tank LPG
business customers. All we ask is that you keep your vessel free
from debris and foliage, fully ventilated and away from any
flammable materials or sources of ignition.
-
Do I need to take any special precautions?
-
Yes. BP Gas recommends that its business customers do not paint
or brand their LPG vessels or obscure any signs or labels.
-
How often do I need to service my vessel?
-
BP Gas conducts a visual inspection of its business customers'
vessels at each delivery and takes immediate action to address any
maintenance requirements or issues surrounding the vessel's
performance. However, we strongly recommend you carry out regular
checks on your LPG appliances to ensure no damage or issues have
occurred.
-
What if I have a problem with my vessel?
-
As part of our customer service offering, BP Gas will repair any
faults or damage to your vessel. All queries should be reported to
BP Gas immediately.
-
What should I do if I suspect a gas leak?
-
Should a gas leak occur, it is likely that it will be first
noticed by the smell.
- Turn off the supply at the emergency and main stop valves
- Extinguish all naked lights and sources of ignition
- Open door and windows (beware that LPG is heavier than air and
will collect at the lowest levels)
- Do not switch electrical appliances / mobile phones on or
off
- Call BP Gas' emergency line on 0845 607 6118
-
What should I do in the event of a fire?
-
In the event of a fire, you should:
- Raise the alarm and activate any fire alarms
- Call the Fire Brigade informing them of the incident and that
LPG bottles may be involved
- Evacuate everyone from the area
- Remove surrounding bottles if it is safe to do so
- Do not attempt to extinguish the fire unless it is safe to do
so
- Call BP Gas' emergency line on 0845 607 6118
