What is LPG?
-
Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is the generic name for commercial
propane and commercial butane. Its high calorific value and
negligible sulphur and metal pollutants make it a more efficient
fuel than oil, coal and electricity and better for the
environment. LPG provides a convenient means of powering heating,
cooking and other processes, regardless of where your business is
located.
-
How can LPG benefit my business?
-
Efficient and controllable, LPG delivers competitive advantage
to businesses throughout the UK. It provides fuel and heat for a
wide-range of commercial, industrial and agricultural businesses,
and is also used to power vehicle fleets, caravans and static
homes, FLTs and hot air balloons. LPG comes in a range of tank
sizes - from half a tonne to two tonnes - making it suitable for
businesses large and small.
-
How does LPG compare with other fuels?
-
- LPG produces no harmful or dangerous waste
- LPG, when burned, produces less CO2 than coal and oil
- LPG burns cleanly with no soot and very few SO2 and NOx
emissions
- LPG poses no ground and water pollution hazards
- LPG delivers significant fuel cost savings, and is around 50%
cheaper than diesel
- LPG is a by-product so there is no wastage
- LPG boilers are cheaper to install than oil boilers and less
expensive to maintain
- LPG can be used alongside renewable technologies
-
Will using LPG help my business reduce its carbon footprint?
-
Yes. LPG has a number of environmental advantages over fuels
such as oil, coal and electricity. It burns more cleanly and
releases less CO2 per unit of energy than other fossil fuels.
