The cheaper, greener way to fuel your fleet

Cleaner and more economical than petrol and diesel, LPG outperforms vehicles running on so-called 'traditional' fuels on many financial and environmental levels. A simple and quick conversion process also means your business vehicles could be running on Autogas or BP Economix™ almost immediately.

LPG for cars
Autogas vehicles operate on a dual-fuel system, with an LPG tank installed alongside a petrol tank. Being fitted with both tanks means vehicles can alternate between the two fuels. Available at more than 250 outlets across the UK, Autogas enables vehicles and machinery to perform on a par with those powered by petrol or diesel.

LPG for haulage
BP Economix™ safely combines LPG with diesel to create a cleaner, more cost-effective fuel. Clean burning with strong green credentials, BP Economix™ gives businesses running diesel-only haulage vehicles a 10% fuel cost saving. It also allows businesses to be more competitive with their customer tenders and quotes.

We've spent more than 100 years developing LPG solutions for the automotive and truck industries. Let us help you bolster your bottom line.

The right solution for your business

There are three options available to businesses looking to switch to LPG:

Buy an LPG-manufactured vehicle
Many major manufacturers produce high-quality vehicles which are built with an LPG facility. For more information about buying an LPG-manufactured vehicle, contact UKLPG, the trade association for the industry.

Convert your existing vehicles to LPG
Most vehicles can be converted to run on LPG. Switching your vehicle back from petrol to Autogas or from diesel to BP Economix™ is just as straightforward. BP Gas recommends you speak to your local UKLPG Approved Autogas Installer about converting your vehicle.

Buy a used vehicle which has already been converted
The UK market for used cars and vans that have been converted to run on LPG is growing. Many of these vehicles are dual fuel. Make sure you obtain the LPGA conversion certificate from the seller, or ask an LPGA Approved Installer to check the vehicle before you buy.

The technology

Here's how this highly effective, proven and safe technology works:

  • LPG is used as a partial substitution for diesel fuel
  • Robust and tested LPG injection
  • System professionally installed on the vehicle and an LPG fuel tank mounted on the chassis
  • The system is mapped closely to the diesel power curve of the vehicle
  • Engine and drive train work within normal parameters
  • Engine will operate as normal on diesel alone if the LPG runs out, or in the unlikely event of the gas system reporting a fault
We can install a BP Autogas tank at your premises, so you'll benefit from the financial savings and the convenience of on-site refuelling.

Service tailored to you

On-site refuelling is an economical, more convenient way for businesses to fuel their fleet of vehicles, with Autogas delivered directly into their equipment - precisely when and where they need it.

When you opt for on-site refuelling, we'll deliver Autogas directly to you, with our top-up service ensuring you never run out. In addition to removing the need for you to store bulk fuel on you premises, on-site refuelling gives you the flexibility of refuelling vehicles after hours or when not being used. So costs associated with downtime and lost productivity are eliminated.

To find out if on-site refuelling would suit your business, visit our Autogas help and advice section.

You might expect to pay more for a cleaner fuel. But LPG is much more cost effective compared to other 'traditional 'fuels.

Safely combining LPG with diesel, BP Economix™ helps businesses reduce their fuel bills and enjoy greater competitiveness.

BP Economix™ – an integrated fuel solution

In today's trading environment, fleet managers are faced with an endless raft of challenges as they seek to run an efficient operation while working to protect profitability.

With operating costs rising by an average of 6% a year, fuel duty continuing to escalate the price of petrol and environmental legislation being introduced on a seemingly daily basis, it's no wonder businesses are turning to BP Economix™ - BP Gas' diesel / LPG fuel mix that delivers economic and environmental benefits while maintaining vehicle performance and efficiency.

BP Economix™ safely combines LPG with diesel to create a cleaner burning and more cost-effective fuel. It safely displaces diesel and replaces it with LPG, enabling businesses to maintain vehicle performance and efficiency while enjoying fuel cost savings of up to 12%.

How it works

BP Economix™ enables large diesel engines to run on a mixture of LPG and diesel, resulting in reduced exhaust emissions and significant fuel cost savings.

Developed by a number of equipment manufacturers and subjected to extensive testing by BP Gas, the technology allows diesel to continue entering the vehicle's engine while the LPG enters via a secondary gas system. The system calculates the expected power output by measuring the duration of the original diesel injector. It then reduces the percentage use of the more expensive diesel accordingly, with the 'shortfall' being made up by the cleaner and cheaper LPG. The vehicle will also automatically default to diesel should the engine run out of LPG.

Operating within original equipment manufacturer (OEM) limits, the vehicle's performance also remains unaffected, resulting in fuel cost savings of up to 12%.
